Remember, this card airs live at 9e/8c on CBS in the United States. Viewers outside the U.S. are plain out of luck.

At yesterday’s EliteXC: Heat weigh-ins, Gina Carano was again in danger of not making weight. She had to strip down to nothing just to get there, which made for a pretty funny scene.

If you missed Anthony “Rumble” Johnson’s fight with Kevin Burns back at the Silva v. Irvin show on July 19, you missed what amounts to a horrible decision–Johnson lost to Burns after a TKO.

It wasn’t just any ordinary TKO–because he’d had so many hand injuries in the past, Burns was using open-palm strikes on Johnson throughout the fight. Burns ended up poking Johnson in the eye with one of those slaps, but was still awarded the victory. Ref Steve Mazzagatti even apologized to Johnson after the fight, and said he should have been given the win, seeing as how he was leading on the scorecards at the time. At the worst, it should have been a no-contest.

Johnson’s camp went on to appeal the decision to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, but word has now come down that his appeal was denied.

This whole fiasco has been a complete joke. I remember watching this fight and being shocked at the decision. Here you’ve got a guy who can’t use a closed fist, but he’s still allowed to fight and use open-palm strikes. That’s just plain dangerous. Odds are if you’re using that kind of strike to the head, you’re going to poke your opponent in the eye. Quite honestly, I don’t see why he’s allowed to fight in the UFC if he’s using open-palm strikes.

Johnson is a talented young fighter, and he’ll bounce back from the “loss,” but it’s a shame when a decision that’s so obvious goes so wrong.

Kimbo Slice week continues with Kimbo’s (short) fight against Tank Abbott in EliteXC.

As promised, it’s Kimbo Slice week here on MMA Shoot. Above you’ll see his first “real” MMA fight against Ray Mercer. Keep in mind Ray Mercer was in his mid-40s at the time of this fight, and was a boxer by trade.
