The next two weeks are stellar times for MMA fans, and it all starts tonight with the UFC and upstart promotion Affliction going head-to-head.
The big question is, which one will you watch? For me, it’s a simple answer: UFC. It’s free, it’s got Anderson Silva, and I prefer the lower weight classes to the heavyweights–Affliction is going big on the heavyweights, tonight.

Im convinced that James the Sandman Irving will beat Anderson Silva.
I just saw greatest knockouts 5, where he literally knocked out one of his previous opponents with a flying knee at the direct start of the 2nd round.
Best knockout I have ever………EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR Seen.

that was a good match, this one on right now is really good, burnes/johnson
July 19th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
This is a great fight so far…third round may decide it, we’ll see if Johnson runs out of gas.
July 19th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
WTF is with the thumbs to the eye! He did that the WHOLE fight. Disqualify the dude and give the victory to Johnson!
July 19th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
WTF. Burns was WARNED. TERRIBLE decision.
July 19th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
i saw him do it once before, that sucks, terrible way for the fight to end because that was close. lex you buying his excuse? he seems legit about it
July 19th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
probably a bad decision but i dont think he did it on purpose at all from the replay
July 19th, 2008 at 7:55 pm

July 19th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Affliction clothing is also mma????
July 19th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
oh yea, its randy coutures clothing line, hell i think it started as clothing and then he started his own mma league named the same. I only see the clothes at like “The Buckle” and its pretty expensive for just tshirts…
July 19th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
ha o’brians not even actually irish, shame on me im taking the other guy now
July 19th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
PF,
Yeah, Affliction has their own MMA promotion now. But the shirts are AWESOME, they just run you a bunch.
July 19th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Bizkit,
Neither is Marcus Davis, but he’s got the “Irish Hand Grenade” nickname, lol.
July 19th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
hahah really? i remember listening to your interview with him and i just kept thinking how awesome of a nickname that was. damn it, still probably my fav. nickname for an mma fighter. wow that was a brawl!
July 19th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
LL,
Cool and I am very impressed with there t shirt designs.
July 19th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
lex im on page with you. I just dont like the heavyweights as much as the lighter weight divisions. they just provide so much more versatility and action i think personally
July 19th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
their shirts are pretty cool. i should get some. i’ve always meant to but never actually go through with it. their pretty huge now even if their arnt sold at a lot of retail stores, anyone any clue as to a website for their clothes?

July 19th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Brandon Vera vs. Reese Andy.
Interesting First Round.
July 19th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
is everyone else geting this in delay or what? their 1:30 left in third round as i speak…
July 19th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
That was the worst display of fighting I’ve seen.
July 19th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I just a bucket of Crow.
The Spider is truly dominant.
July 19th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Silva is going to run through everyone. It doesn’t matter what weight class. I’m convinced he could knock out the heavyweights. He’ll be the light heavyweight champion in the future.
What I find really funny is how Irvin was plugging his size advantage…but Silva walks around at 205 and is BIGGER than Irvin. Just schedule Silva v. Griffin and let him whoop Forrest’s butt.

I liked the card as a whole. I think that the Vera/Andy fight is slow but for the most part it was a solid show with not one but two knockout endings. The “Filler” undercard matchup after the main event is a canadate for knockout of the year. I had my reservations about Anderson moving up a weight class but it was put to rest last night.
NOW
I feel Silva might have trouble with the likes of stronger opponents but he can defenately hang. I want to see a Silva VS W. Silva. That would be a train wreck.
