Griffin v. Aurelio is up first…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Griffin dominates round 1 with his striking. He took Aurelio down and was able to ground and pound for a good majority of the round…gotta give him round 1.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Griffin dominates again in round 2. He landed some nice stand up early in the round, and then hit secured a big takedown on Aurelio and worked the ground. Aurelio almost locked Griffin in a triangle, but Griffin slipped out and continued to dominate. Gotta give Griffin round 2, as well. Aurelio needs the knockout or submission to win the fight.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
i skipped on bw3’s tonight so im missing this ppv although im not happy about it cause i REALLY wanna see this fight, hows the ppv been so far?
July 5th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Griffin again dominates in round 3. He looked to have Aurelio hurt at one point with nice striking, and then hit another great takedown on Aurelio. Aurelio attempted to lock in several submissions, but Griffin avoided them and continued to ground and pound for the remainder of round 3. Gotta be 30-27 Griffin, Unanimous decision. Aurelio looks very upset by his poor performance.
And yup, there it is, 30-27, Griffin unanimous. Another three round decision for Griffin.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
3$bizkit,
Just the one fight in the books so far, total domination by Griffin, but nothing spectacular. I’m not a big fan of his fights, but he does get the job done.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Forest Griffin is a slight favorite right now on the text poll, 55-45 over Jackson.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Josh Koscheck v. Chris Lytle is up now…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
i found it suprising that koscheck is so low on the bill, or maybe thats me, and i always liked forrest over rampage, rampage seems cocky and forrest always seems like just a southern boy regular guy
July 5th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Lex’s predictions update: 1-1 overall, 1-1 exact predictions…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Bizkit,
I’ve got Rampage winning tonight. I just think he’s more talented than Forrest, and I also think they are underestimating his cardio…just look at how he went five rounds with Dan Henderson.
I’ve got Koscheck via KO in the first round, as well…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Koscheck has a nice reach advantage, btw…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
koscheck is the man, and I’ve never seen any rampage fight before really, i like ufc but i never see ppvs only what they show on spike tv. But im bias cuase I saw the Bonner/Griffen fight on TV for the ultimate fighter finale season 1 and it was the greatest fight ive ever seen still to this day
July 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Nice standup exchanges to start round 1, Koschek slipped on his butt throwing a kick at one point. Koscheck got the takedown on Lytle, and Lytle looked to NEARLY submit Koscheck in the guillotine choke, but Koscheck escaped. Koscheck tried to pass guard to side control, but was stuck in half guard. Lytle moved Koscheck to full guard. The grappled for a while, but ended back up in full guard. Koscheck ended the round with one big strike to Lytle’s head. I’ll agree with Mike Goldberg, round 1 goes to Koscheck, although it was competitive.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Bizkit,
Rampage is just insane to watch. See if you can pick up some Pride DVDs from Best Buy, they won’t disappoint.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
yea i saw a special on FSN with pride and saw one of his early fights and it was pretty good, lost the fight but he looked good, who would you say if the best MMA fighter in the world right now Lex?
July 5th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
So whens Kimbo gonna fight?
July 5th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Koscheck hit some nice strikes early in the round, and took Lytle down. Lytle tried to lock him in another guillotine, but Koscheck escaped, and hit some huge ground and pound from half guard. Lytle is now bleeding heavily from cuts on his head–one is right above his right eye, it appears. More ground and pound from Koscheck, just total domination. Blood on the camera lens at this point…Lytle is just holding on for dear life. More elbows to the head from Koscheck. Koscheck had side control for a second, but back to half guard. Lytle is BLEEDING, won’t be surpised if the doctor stops this fight in between rounds, it’s a bloodbath. Lytle is still defending himself despite the blood. Lytle just laying in a pool of his own blood to end the round, crowd gives him a nice reception. Clearly that round to Koscheck…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Jizz,
Kimbo’s next fight should be in September/October on CBS…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
hes not fighting tonight…this is the ufc, not elite xc, and kimbos not even on the bill for the next CBS special for elite’s new free ppv deal
July 5th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Cutman did a good job in between rounds, but Koscheck will open up the cut again pretty quickly, I’m sure…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Lex did you happen to see the CBS special last month, their first one?
July 5th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
this sucks i really wish i could be watching these fights
July 5th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Lytle actually lands some shots on Koscheck to open up, including one on Koscheck when he shot in for a takedown. Koscheck takes Lytle down, but Lytle tries to lock in a Kimura, and then a guillotine. Koscheck slipped out, but Lytle went for another guillotine. Koscheck escaped again, and pinned Lytle against the cage. More blood from Lytle. Koscheck just facewashing Lytle’s head. This will be stopped soon with all the blood. Rogan just noted this is bloodier than BJ Penn/Joe Stevenson. Koscheck landing more shots to Lytle, who’s again holding on for dear life. Yves Lavigne STANDS THEM UP!
July 5th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Bizkit,
Yes I did, it was a VERY interesting show. We’ll be interviewing James THompson tomorrow about the Kimbo fight…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
great play by play this match sounds awesome
July 5th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Lytle actually lands some standup on Koscheck, and the crowd chants for Lytle! Lytle is gutting this thing out, but has no chance as the time ticks down. They both trade huge blows to end the fight! Gotta be 30-27 Koscheck…the crowd is hating on him, of course. AWESOME fight.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
i thought the lawler (however you spell it) fight before the kimbo fight was really good starting out and im really excited for them to redo it as the mainevent as the next CBS special, just a thought to throw that fight into the interview tomorrow if you have time to ask their thoughts about it
July 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
LL thanks for the info sep/oct it is….3$Bizkit minor mistake, I got confused with UFC and Elite XC, but thanks for the info.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Lytle had two nasty cuts over his right eye. Ksocheck’s hair and gloves are just stained with blood. 30-26, 30-27, 30-28, Koscheck by unanimous decision!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
why doesnt the crowd like koscheck? is he a hated fighter? im not too sure on how things are in MMA as far as who is more popular and whos hated
July 5th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Jizz,
No problem, man! You should make an appearance over at PWB, btw…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Bizkit,
Yeah, people don’t like Koscheck for some reason…not sure why. I guess because he should have been undefeated and slipped up late in that one fight? Crowd boos him more during and after the interview…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
speaking of which, where you been recentlly on there Lex? sideshow acted like you were off the face of the earth for the past week
July 5th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Lex predictions update…2-2 overall, 1-2 exact predictions…
Jackson and Griffin text poll now tied at 50-50…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Bizkit,
I was out of town…visiting my buddy in Chicago…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
nice city, i dont blame ya, i’ll tell ya what though, the blog after CM Punk won monday night, nuts, i just recently got into watching raw and posting at the same time (i was a podcast person at first)but once i went on during a monday night, i cant get enough of the blog during a raw broadcast
July 5th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Stevenson v. Tibau is up next…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Bizkit–
Good to hear. Be sure to check out the last Rant…my first time on there.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
I got stevenson in this one, and yea i’ve been getting into the rant. I was going to listen to it tomorrow afternoon, i found it a pleasent suprise you were a member this week of the “round table”. have you listened to it yet? my only problem with last week is that all the peoples sound qualities were different
July 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Bizkit,
I think it came off really well this week…be sure to let Sideshow know what you think…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
yea i’ll post something on pwb to him about it and see what he says about it, how late do these ufc ppvs normally last?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Bizkit,
Depends on how long the fights go, I’d say this one will go till probably 11…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
LL cool and I will do an appearance on PWB soon and this MMA blog is another hit….till next time night
July 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
ooohhh, im in ohio so its 11:18 here thats why I was wondering cause I thought it was odd their not near the mainevent yet
July 5th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Wow. Stevenson lands a nice shot in Round 1 and Tibau slipped to his feet. Stevenson almost locked in a guillotine, but Tibau escaped. Tibau hits a weak takedown on Stevenson, but Stevenson gets back to his feet. Nice combo by Stevenson, and then a nice takedown by Stevenson. Out of nowhere, Tibau locks in an uma plata, but can’t seem to get it deep enough, and Stevenson is able to hang on. Stevenson wants the fight to be stood up, but the round ends with the two basically sitting on the mat. Very even round…tough to score. Maybe a slight edge to Tibau after the uma plata…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Later jizz!
Ahh, then midnight, Bizkit!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
BJ Penn just got some huge cheers….
July 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Tibau takes down Stevenson, but he quickly gets up. Tibau with some nice strikes, and then another takedown on Stevenson. Tibau flips into side control quite easily. Full mount by Tibau. Tibau makes a huge mistake trying to step over, and Stevenson spins out. BAD move by Tibau, he should have kept his position. Back to standup…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Tibau with another big takedown, but Stevenson HOOKS IN THE GUILLOTINE ON THE WAY DOWN…TAP! Stevenson wins by sumbmission!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Lex’s predictions update:
3-3 overall, 1-3 exact (just off on Daddy, thought the sub would be round 3!)
July 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Submission by Stevenson came at 3:57 of round 2…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
yes! called it, wow, that ending sounds amazing
July 5th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Griffin now leads the text poll, 53-47…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Bizkit,
It was a nice ending, the crowd was somewhat stunned…
Cote v. Almeida is up next…this should be awesome.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
im not really familiar with these 2 guys, did you order the ppv or are you watching it online?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
I ordered it on TV…Almeida is amazing with his BJJ, and Cote is just all around awesome…this is basically for a title shot…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
what weightclass are they at? once i get back to columbus i’ll be at the bw3’s for ever wrestling and ufc ppv but im kinda stuck right now cause the nearest bw3s only does some ufc ppvs now and stopped having wwe ppvs all the sudden without telling anyone
July 5th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Almeida quickly jumped into guard and went for the guillotine, but Cote escpaed. Almeida took it to full guard, but stood the fight back up. Cote is trying to fight off Almeida’s takedowns, and is utilizing good takedown defense. Almeida finally gets the takedown, and has the advantage on top. Cote tries to escape, but Almeida holds onto his leg and maintains half guard.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Bizkit,
Middleweight…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Almeida still has control along the cage, and lands some nice punches. Cote simply cannot escape, nice body shots by Almeida…Almeida lands more ground and pound to end the round.
Round 1 has to go to Almeida, he completely dominated on the ground.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
good first round, I scored it 10-9 for Almeida.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
haha aaaahhhhh you dont know how mad i am i cant actually watch this right now, your making all these matches seem awesome, what would you rate this ppv so far?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
If Cote cannot do better than that on the ground, this fight will be academic.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Delay in between rounds as Almeida’s glove was torn.
Cote almost lands a huge uppercut to start round 2. Cote does a nice job avoiding a takedown. Almeida takes Cote down into mission control. Cote escapes, and lets Almeida up.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
whats the mainevent for the spike tv free ppv coming up soon? if i remember right it is decently big names i think
July 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
3$ bizkit do u want to watch it.
I can hook you up.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
lex sidenote: you should get in tact with some websites, these play by plays are really good, like i could see you posting on like espn or si.com doing their play by play blogs for MMA
July 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
how so aaron?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Anderson Silva vs. I forget who.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Back to standup, Almeida keeps dropping his hands to invite Cote to punch and open up…that allows Almeida to grapple with Cote. Cote finally lands a big punch coming out of the clinch. Cote whiffs with some more strikes. Almeida lands a right to head. Cote whiffs some more. Almeida is fighting VERY smart. Almeida almost takes Cote down, but Cote wriggles away and whiffs some more. Cote lands a kick. Almeida with the clinch on Cote. He backs Cote into the cage. Scattered boos by fans who don’t appreciate the full MMA game.
Almeida locked in a guillotine, but Cote slipped out. Cote let Almeida up, and went for the superman punch and whiffed. Cote finally landed a huge right hand blow as the round ended. I’d give that one to Almeida. Cote really needs to knock out Almeida in round 3, or I believe Almeida will win.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Do u want the link?
BTW I give Round 2 to Patrick Cote 10-9 great little barrage of offense there at the end.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Bizkit,
I hope to make this site bigger than the original PWB. MMA is so much easier/fun to do live PBP than pro wrestling, that’s for sure. Too much to type on wrestling…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
yea totally man, i was on one to watch “night of champions” last sunday and i cant remeber the site, if they even show MMA ppvs on it
July 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
ChannelSurfing.net
Look it up.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Cote clinches Almeida against the cage near the beginning of round 3. For some reason he let go. Cote goes for leg kicks. Huge leg kick buckles Almeida. Joe and Mike seem to give round two to Cote, but I disagree, Almeida seemed to control the majority of the round…Cote had one big blow at the end. If Cote gets it, it’s certainly stealing the round…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
I agree, wrestling we know is scripted so im always looking to get suprised, with ufc i never know whats going to happen, my roommates in columbus didnt like ufc until i got them to watch it a few times on tv and now their all into it cause its so raw and unpredictable
July 5th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Cote seems to be hitting his rythym in round 3, with Almeida backing away. Almeida may be gassed. Another big leg kick by Cote. Scattered boos. Cote just backing up Almeida with Almeida looking to cherry pick shots every once in a while. Cote with another big leg kick.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Joe Rogan: “So far this round has just been two leg kicks.”
July 5th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Alemida lands a right, Cote with another leg kick. They are exchanging shots, but nothing really sustained. I’m surprised Almeida has not gone for a takedown. Cote whiffs again, and Almeida whiffs. Almeida with a huge takedown out of nowhere. He won’t let go of Cote’s legs. If Almeida can hang on, he will steal the round.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Almeida goes for the Peruvian necktie, but misses, and Cote gains control on top as the round ends. Crowd boos the fighters.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
man if thats the case that sucks! i hate fights where they stand and dance around the whole time
July 5th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
I see Patrick Cote 30-28 28-29 29-28 Split Decision.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
I’d say 29-28 Almeida, giving him the first two rounds. I think you could argue 30-27. I won’t be shocked if Cote wins, however.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Ya that did seem not to have much action.
But Patrick Cote was the aggressor and did push the pace the final 2 rounds.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
29-28 Cote, 29-28 Almeida, 29-28 COTE…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
CALLED IT.
HOW DO U LIKE THAT.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Cote wins by split decision.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
if this site loads the video feed i cant wait to join in on the actual comments, fingers crossed i atleast get to see the main event
July 5th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I disagree with that decision, I believe that Almeida controlled the second round. But of course, judges always bias themselves towards the striker…
July 5th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
it should, I am watching the current feed.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
yes got it!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
That will give Cote a Title Fight vs. Anderson Silva, Am I right Lex?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
rogen is ripped, i want to see him in a MMA fight sometime, thatd be so awesome
July 5th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
MAIN EVENT TIME!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Griffin wins the text poll over Jackson, 52-48.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
ok who do we think is oging to win!? i got forrest, im a bit bias though i will admit
July 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Lex’s predictions update…
3-4 overall, 1-4 exact predictions…pretty good so far, I’d say…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
I’ve got Rampage via TKO in round 3…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Wow, Nick Cage sucks. Why did they have to put him in that movie? He looks like a tool with that hair.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
I want to Forrest to win it, but I can see it going either way.
There are 2 possible Scenarios for this fight,
A) Rampage wins via TKO in the 3rd Round.
B) Forrest Wins via Submission Triangle Choke, 2nd Round.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
that movie looks AWESOME
July 5th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
well i think him being a teacher dumb but if it was him just whooping ass pretty good, i admit his hair long sucks, id say faceoff might be his best movie
July 5th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
I’m not gonna lie, Rampage has a mean Powerbomb like manuever that breaks up a Triangle Choke.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
i love these goldberg style entrances
July 5th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
lex are you going to make discussions for the next CBS fight on here when the time comes?
July 5th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
RAMPAGE LOOKS PISSED.
He is one person I would never want to fight in the Octagon.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
this’ll be the first time i see rampage live in a fight, i hope this fight is just awesome, i dont think it’ll go 5 rounds though, that seems too much for either fighter, something willgive for sure
July 5th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Rampage is in the zone, baby!
July 5th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Bizkit,
Heck yeah there will be a discussion for Smith v. Lawler II!
July 5th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Bruce Buffer on the stick…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
i cant even explain how pumped i am for that fight after seeing it the first time! that fight is going to be an INSTANT CLASSIC
July 5th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Quinton looks a little flabby, not as ripped as he did, for the Chuck Liddell, fight.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
bruce buffer is the man, haha hes so jacked up for this fight announcement
July 5th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
FORREST HAS THE CROWD BIG TIME!
July 5th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Mandy Moore appears to be cheering for Forrest, but Fez from that 70s show has Rampage’s back, lol.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
And here we go…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
hahahahahahah! golberg and rogen didnt even see that, lex your amazing
July 5th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Nice leg kick by Forrest to start…crowd with huge Forrest chants. Forrest lands a nice left to Rampage’s face. Rampage whiffs and Forrest lands another one with some dirty boxing. So far nothing really huge has landed. Rampage with a huge hook that misses. Rampage lands some HUGE shots inside but Forrest rebounds with some knees.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Rampge lands another glancing shot. Rogan thinks Forrest is moving better. Forrest with a nice leg kick to Rampage’s left thigh. Rampage with some HUGE shots, and a nice legkick! Forrest was wobbled, but recovered and landed on Rampage…Rampage slipped. Forrest landed another bucling leg kick.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Forrest with another leg kick. RAMPAGE lands a HUGE shot and knocks Forrest down. Rampage mounts and totally controls Forrest, moving him over to the cage. Damn that was a huge shot.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Rampage with ground and pound, lands more ands Forrest stands up. Griffin tries to land knees, bur Rampage lands a kick. Rampage almost hit another huge uppercut. That round HAS to go to Rampage after those huge shots.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Griffin was in some serious danger there. Wow. This is a good fight.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
1st Round 10-9 Rampage that big Uppercut dropped Forrest and that is enough to win the first round.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
YES! that first round was awesome, i held my breath when rampage droppen FG
July 5th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
i dunno, i wouldnt put that munch on one hit, if it wasnt that case id say first round to forrest
July 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Round 2…Forrest with a nice leg kick and Rampage’s legs are hurt. Griffin goes after Rampage’s leg and takes him down. Rampage in serious trouble, Forrest on top now. Forrest trying to go to half guard…Forrest with the facewashes. Forrest not passing yet…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Forrest going for ground and pound, but not much action here. Forrest finally passes into side control.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Forrest dominating Rampage on the ground, but not landing any huge shots. Forrest goes for the Americana, Rampage escapes, now Forrest in full mount, but Rampage still defneding himself well.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Forrest still in full mount, hitting some ok shots on Rampage. Rampage not getting hurt, but getting dominated.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Griffin dominates round 2 with striking and then ground game. The key will be whether or not Rampage’s leg is hurt. If his leg is hurt, he won’t be able to stand up or use his power slam game…Forrest easily wins round 2.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
RAMPAGE IS GETTING MAULLED!

WOW FORREST TOTALLY OWNED RAMPAGE THE 2ND ROUND,
10-8 Forrest.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
From the replay, it looks like Forrest’s big kick migh have hurt Rampage’s knee. Rampage putitng no weight on it before the round.

Griffin won that Round with the brillant Triange Choke, 10-9
July 5th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Interesting round, Forrest had a nice submission for a second, but Rampage escaped. I’m betting at least two judges gave that one to Rampage. I’ve got it 3-1 rampage right now…
July 5th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
wow big kick by forrest! go forrest!
July 5th, 2008 at 10:39 pm

July 5th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Wow. I have NO IDEA which way this will go. I have it three rounds to two, Rampage.
By the way, Joe Rogan is TOTALLY biased to Forrest.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
because rampage is champ i think he retains unfotunitlly, normaly it takes a lot for the challenager to win and i dont dont know if forrest to win… but the announcers seem to think forrest might have won it
July 5th, 2008 at 10:45 pm

July 5th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Guess Rampage was wrong about the fight not going to decision.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
The crowd just booed Griffin, lol. Griffin just dropped the F bomb and the s bomb, lol.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
WOW.
That was definitely a great fight, but that decision was questionable at best.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
yea i mean i think it was going to be so close that theres guarenteed to be people leaving not happy either way, and i think we need a rematch either way, and even though i wanted forrest to win i pray we get to see a rematch thatd be so awesome! this was one the best fights i’ve ever seen
July 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
I TOTALLY SMELL A REMATCH.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Rampage says Forrest whipped his ass! Sounds like we may see a rematch down the line the way they are playing it…

July 5th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
FYI, Dave Meltzer scored it a draw and MMA Junkie had Jackson winning 48-47.
July 5th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
This fight is why MMA judges should be more educated.
Rampage Vs Griffin
It was an excellent fight. Both men delivered a championship caliber performance. There will be a rematch and it will look totally diffrent.
Cote was handed a victory on a silver plater
Chris Lytle is tougher than a coffin nail. I still hate Kos (although he is a great fighter)
Joe Daddy keeps me as a fan
Melvin Gullard is the best “dumb” fighter in the game. He needs to raise his fight Iq and he could be a top twenty fighter. He is a fantastic talent
Over all it was worth my 50 dollars
July 6th, 2008 at 6:40 am
Joe,
I agree wholeheartedly on the judges. I’ll expand on it later in a post, but I believe they were wrong on the Almeida fight and obviously the main event.
July 6th, 2008 at 11:15 am
I whimped out of watching the show live (I went to bed after the Griffin v Aurelio fight) and have just finished watching the tape (I went to the rugby before seeing Rampage v Forrest).
My picks were pretty good, I called the first 3 fights perfectly. I agree with Lex and Morgan on the judges, they don’t seem to know what they’re doing at times. Saying that, the two main events were both close fights that were tough to call.
I definitely had Almeida winning the first round but the other two were closer and he seemed to run out of energy by the end of the fight. I still don’t think Cote is ready to fight Silva after that fight and he needs another win to earn a title shot in my opinion.
Like Meltzer I had the Rampage V Forrest fight as a draw (47-47) becuase Rampage seemed to win 3 of the 5 rounds but Forrest did dominate in the second, so I gave him a 10-8 for that round. Forrest’s leg kicks were deadly and he dominated on the ground in the second but Rampage rocked him a few times, particularly with that uppercut in the first round. For me, Forrest did not do enough for me to categorically win the fight and the title, I thought Rampage was closer to finishing the fight. Griffin did prove his critics wrong and suprised me by giving Rampage a competetive fight and taking him to a decision, but I’m not convinced that he won it.
Overall the show was alright, with an average undercard but a fantastic main event that made the PPV. Hopefully there will be a rematch soon so that Forrest can prove that he deserves to be champion and that it wasn’t just because of a questionable call.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I think you could almost argue that Rampage won four of the five rounds, but I’m going to go back and watch it one more time before I make that statement for sure.
