There’s so much going on in the world of MMA it’s hard to fit it all into one blog. That’s why I’m starting a new feature here on MMA Shoot: every few days I’ll post a summary of the latest and greatest news from the MMA world. Of course, I’m calling the new feature “The Shoot.” Without further adieu, let’s get to the first edition.

MMARated.com is reporting that Rich Franklin will move up to 205 to face Matt Hamill at UFC 88. This adds to an already packed card, including Chuck Liddell v. Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson v. Rousimar Palhares, Karo Parisyan v. Yoshiyuki Yoshida, and James Lee v. Tim Boetsch.
MMA Junkie has also confirmed the bout.

In other UFC news, MMA Junkie also reports that C.B. Dolloway and Jesse Taylor will fight at UFC Fight Night 14.
UFN 14, strategically scheduled on July 19 to face off against Affliction’s first PPV, will also feature Anderson Silva v. James Irvin in a light-heavyweight bout. It looks like Affliction is in real trouble–would you rather pay money to see their PPV, or watch Anderson Silva’s move to light heavyweight for free? And yeah, SpikeTV is HD now, too. This doesn’t bode well for Affliction’s buyrate.
Affliction does plan to broadcast two preliminary fights from its July 19 card on Fox Sports Network as a lead-in to the PPV show: Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Paul Buentello and light Vitor Belfort (16-8) VS. Terry Martin. Still, I doubt that will be enough to overcome the UFC juggernaut free on Spike.

MMA Shoot favorite Michael Bisping will be facing off against Chris Leben at UFC 89. MMA Junkie has confirmed that the fight, which was supposed to happen at UFC 85, will happen on October 18 in Birmingham, England.
I’ll have to go with Bisping in this one–he’s on a roll, and gets to face Leben in his own backyard.

It looks like the July 26 EliteXC on CBS card is getting bigger by the day: three titles will now be on the line. Five Ounces of Pain reports that Antonio Silva and Justin Eilers will square off at the show, and hints that it will most likely be for the vacant heavyweight title in EliteXC.
Of course, the main event features a rematch between Scott Smith and Robbie Lawler for the middleweight title. The welterweight title will also be decided on that show when Jake Shields faces Nick Thompson.

Chuck Liddell sat down with MMA News for an interview this week, and had some interesting things to say about Anderson Silva:
MMANEWS.COM: Would you every welcome a fight between yourself and Silva?
Chuck Liddell: Sure, it could be a good fight but I think I’m too big for him. He’s a tough fighter and I have all the respect in the world for him but I think I’d be too much for him.
Liddell also said that he deserves at title shot once he beats Rashad Evans.

Finally, another MMA Shoot favorite, Karo Parisyan, was on TAGG Radio’s “Lights Out Show” this week. According to Fightline, Karo had some funny comments regarding his confrontation with Nate Diaz on The Ultimate Fighter:
“I wouldn’t have to punch [him]. I would slap him…I was very close to taking his head off because of his attitude…Do you (Nate) know what I’m capable of on the street?!…Eventually one day something’s going to happen, because I can’t handle that kid anymore.”
Somehow, I don’t think Karo’s the only person who wants to slap one of the Diaz brothers.
